It’s a pleasure to welcome you to the 14th annual Prestatyn & Clwydian Range Walking Festival, which continues to grow each year with visitors from all over the UK. A firmly established event providing a range of FREE guided walks for all ages and abilities, ranging from all day treks to easier strolls with some special themes. Fun and adventure for all the family in the great outdoors. The general theme this year is LEGENDS, MYTHS AND MYSTERIES.
Prestatyn and Meliden are proud of their status as a Walkers Are Welcome community and we were the first in Wales too! These links with other Walkers Are Welcome communities across the UK enables us to spread the word of our great location. The Walkers Are Welcome scheme has encouraged more and more communities in Wales to get involved resulting in more visitors getting to experience the joys of walking the spectacular coast and hills we have around us.
Our main hub of Prestatyn continues to flourish with the High Street, Parc Prestatyn retail outlets and beach area all extremely busy and offering great quality. Conveniently situated at the northern end of the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Prestatyn provides a wonderful base for walking enthusiasts. We offer good access to the 870 mile Wales Coast Path which circumnavigates the coast of Wales and we are at the beginning/end of the Offa’s Dyke National Trail and Clwydian Way. All this in addition to many other interesting local way marked routes to explore.
Our 2017 walking festival offers you a range of walks for all abilities, with walks starting from various locations including our main HQ at the Parish Church Hall. Several walks are dog friendly (on a short lead) and offer a choice of refreshments to purchase either before or after your walk.
Pupils from local schools will once again be participating in the festival with a dedicated programme of events and walks over a week. The children will be walking from schools to Parish Church Hall where they will be engaged in various activities associated with the Tudor period of history. Other events feature nature walks in Coed y Morfa and history in the local area.
We really look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful part of Wales and please do book early, as many walks have limited places available.
